Jenny Cheung, the founder of Mindful Psychology Practice, is dedicated to supporting individuals through diverse challenges, drawing on her extensive experience as a Registered Psychologist. With over 11 years of clinical experience in private practice, along with a background in vocational rehabilitation and corporate settings, Jenny has a deep understanding of the unique challenges that individuals face in both their personal and professional lives. Based in the heart of Sydney, Jenny predominantly serves clients from the bustling corporate world, helping them navigate their unique work and life challenges, build resilience, and achieve their full potential.
Jenny is recognised for her warm, empathetic, yet direct counselling style, which fosters a supportive and non-judgmental environment for her clients. She adopts a flexible therapeutic approach tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. Her style is motivational, optimistic, and infused with humour, reflecting her strong belief in a collaborative and evidence-based therapy practices.
Jenny brings a wealth of expertise in employing a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches in her clinical practice, with a particular focus on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to meet the unique needs of her clients. Her specialised knowledge extends to the transformative potential of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for addressing various conditions and traumas.
Jenny specialises in working with adults and older adolescents, focusing on anxiety, mood disorders, adjustment disorders, trauma, relationship issues, grief, and bereavement. She is passionate about helping clients navigate life transitions and challenges in modern society, with a keen focus on cultivating mindfulness and self-compassion for greater well-being and resilience. Jenny values the mind-body connection and incorporates mindfulness practices into her daily routine. Outside of work, she finds rejuvenation spending moments in nature, especially by the water.
Credentials
Jenny is a Registered Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, a member of the Australia Psychological Society (APS) and a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists (AAPi). She is a trained EMDR Practitioner and is an associate member of the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA). She holds a Masters' degree in Psychology, with a Second Class Pass for her Masters' Dissertation in Cognitive Psychology. Jenny also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology, a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Bachelor's degree in Commerce. She is an accredited treatment provider for Medicare & SIRA (WorkCover NSW).
